COVID-19 Coronavirus Update

April 1, 2020

The Museum continues to follow the lead of the City of Somerville and keep the Museum closed through the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ll continue posting updates, content, and information on social media and on our website. Please consider donating or becoming a member to help sustain art, history, and culture in our Somerville community. http://somervillemuseum.org/join-html/

Due to concerns about the COVID-19 strain of coronavirus in our community and the City’s requirement to cancel extracurricular school gatherings, the Somerville Museum will be cancelling the upcoming Curator Talk set for Saturday, March 14th with the hope of rescheduling at a later date.

The Somerville Museum aims to continue to provide a cultural outlet to the community but for the time being, we will follow the lead of the City of Somerville and close the Museum until Thursday, April 2nd, at which time we will re-evaluate.
We are heeding the advice of health care professionals and have initiated more frequent cleaning activities of touchable surfaces but the safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors is paramount.

We’ll continue posting on social media and our website about updates and other interesting programming events we have coming up in the future. This will no doubt be a challenging time for small businesses and non-profits alike. Please consider donating or becoming a member at this time to help the arts in our community thrive. http://somervillemuseum.org/join-html/

Stay safe.

We are heeding the advice of health care professionals and have initiated more frequent cleaning activities of touchable surfaces to safeguard the public and our staff.

Looking for something to do other than await the Pandemic?  The Somerville Museum encourages you to enjoy our current exhibit, The Basement Project: Not Your Usual Junk.  This is a small exhibition in a large space, that generates a rich and entertaining experience for the visitor and is an insightful collaboration with the Somerville High School’s Local History Club. Stay tuned for updates on other upcoming events and gallery hours.
