Barbara Mangum

President and Trustee

Barbara Mangum is the president of Sculpture and Decorative Arts Conservation Services LLC, which she founded in June of 2000.  She brings to this position over 30 years of experience in the conservation of works of art and artifacts. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a double major in chemistry and art history cum laude and received her MFA from the Cooperstown Graduate Program in the Conservation of Artistic and Historic Works. From 1986 to 1991, she was the Objects Conservator for the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and then Chief Conservator until her departure in 2000 to set up her own firm. 

A resident of Somerville, she began her association with the Somerville Museum in the early 2000s. In 2011, she joined the Board of Trustees as President and has worked together with the other Board members, the Advisory Counsel, and volunteers to bring care of the building and collections up to the highest standards, and to create exciting, insightful, and diverse programming that speaks to the people of Somerville.  Contact her at:  bmangum411@aol.com.
