This was a major week – one that will go down in history. This was the week that the staff was able to start using the new indoor bathrooms and the porta johns were finally carted away! Loads of other details were also figured out but really, being able to use indoor bathrooms again takes the cake. The scaffolding was removed as the team finished the details on the exterior of the building and moved operations indoors. We also met with our millworker on site to discuss trim details, finalize cabinetry in the reception area, and make some other small adjustments. Decorative lighting is also being installed. We are nearing the finish line and we couldn’t be more excited. Stay tuned as more and more finish items are installed and the space nears completion.

New ADA-compliant, gender-neutral bathrooms nearing completion

In other news, sadly we had to cancel the Penny Chronicles Postcard Show & Sale scheduled for Saturday, 12/18. We had a few vendors drop out for various reasons and felt that it wouldn’t be the event we had envisioned. However, we’re working on some other programming ideas. We’re also starting to gear up for our next exhibition, Bittersweet. In anticipation of this show we’re now selling chocolates from Taza and Somerville Chocolate as well as locally made soy candles that smell like hot chocolate. These can be purchased at the Museum or online and they make great holiday gifts!
