Phase 2 is well underway. Since we last checked in the vault doors have been removed, waterproofing is in place, and the cement floor has been poured. The space is really coming together! The Museum staff, construction team, and architects meet weekly to check-in on progress, figure out solutions to problems, and keep a close eye on the completion date. We’re currently on schedule to finish the project in May which will give our Collection Care team time to coordinate bringing the collections back strategically during the summer months. Realistically, the collections should come back in increments, so the team has time to review, document, and organize the items before placing them in the newly renovated collection storage area. It’s a process! But it will allow for these items to be more physically accessible to the team and available for use in future virtual exhibitions. This process costs money and our fundraising team has been hard at work raising the necessary funds to complete all these projects. We’ve recently begun a GiveButter page so that everyone can see how much more we have to raise – we’re almost there, but we still need your help!
