Another week down, but mostly stuck in the details right now. While the construction crew is working on the big stuff, like the elevator, fire alarm recalls, scheduling inspections, we’re focusing on the details that may have been overlooked. One example is the glass details in the new exterior doors. Originally, this was specified by the architect as just a round glass detail. But, the millworker ordered plain glass. So, we’ve reached out to a longtime friend of the Museum, John Superti, who is an expert in glass. He gave us the names of some well-known local glass companies that specialize in this type of thing. He also recommended that we ask for Crown Bullions or Crown Glass, also known as Bullseye Glass. This type of glass is made with concentric rings coming out from a bullseye center. We’ve scheduled a site visit with a local glass company and will hopefully have updates to post soon!

Original architectural drawing of the decorative glass in the exterior door; note there are now 2 exterior doors that will have this detail: the pedestrian door and the elevator entrance.
