100,000 TSHA TSHAS: A March Madness Challenge

  • Somerville Museum One Westwood Road Somerville, MA 02143 (map)

In honor of our current exhibition "The Art of the Festival", learn about the Nepali Lakṣacaitya ritual with us as we make and display 100+ tsha tshas (small votive offerings) by the end of March!

In the Lakṣacaitya ritual, Nepali people make 100,000 miniature caityas (a stupa-shaped tsha tsha) to honor a new stupa, such as the one that sits at the center of the exhibition. At the Somerville Museum, visitors will see examples, learn the hands-on process of molding clay tsha tshas, take one home, and put the rest on display with The Art of the Festival.

This program will run during open hours in March. This activity is free, but museum admission fees apply.

RSVP for March 1st by emailing info@somervillemuseum.org
