The tile installers were back this week to install the new tile in the bathrooms. We’re going with a decorative black tile and matching grout to create a “modernized traditional” look. How do you pick bathroom tile when there are so many choices out there? The Museum team hired Peter Quinn Architects and they have designers on staff that have helped guide us through these decisions. First, we started with some images from Pinterest to figure out the look and feel we wanted for the spaces. Then, the designers narrowed our choices to two or three per element based on our budget, aesthetic, durability, and lead times. From there we made some small adjustments like grout color, door hardware finish, etc. to bring the space together.

How it started: with a Pinterest image. We really liked the dark color wall to show off some pieces from the Museum collection (or reproductions of those pieces) paired with a black flooring, white appliances, and gold finishes.

How it’s going: It might not look like much yet, but we picked a black floor tile with some minimal design to pair with our tile wainscoting and dark color walls. More to come!
