They say the devil is in the details. Every time you’ve walked into a space, a bathroom, kitchen, etc. you probably rarely recognize all the detailed decisions that have been made to make it look so seamless. That’s our goal for the renovated spaces – to make them look so natural and thoughtful that you don’t notice all the details, like tile orientation, Schluters, grout color, etc. So, this week was spent making the decision on the direction of the tile in the basement, where the hallway tile meets the bathroom tile, and how to handle the hi-low transition at the bottom of the basement stairs. As an interior designer (and the author of this blog) I know better than most that these small details make a lot of difference!

For example, changing the orientation of the tiles on the landing at the bottom of the stairs will alert your brain that there is a step up into the basement area. A small detail that will hopefully prevent many of you from tripping!
