The carpets are coming up! After many years of carpeting in our main galleries we’re finally having them replaced with an engineered hardwood material. As part of the Access for All & More Campaign the main galleries are getting a facelift with new flooring and a new coat of paint. First, the carpeting will be removed and disposed and then the floors will be leveled (they’re cement underneath). Then, we’ll have the painter come in and paint all the walls, trim, doors, etc. Once that’s done, the flooring installer will come back and install the floors. Our space presents some challenges with the historic Bulfinch staircase and Loring door and we’re confident that our contractors will take the upmost care to help us refresh the space so that we can all enjoy it for many years to come.

Just in case you haven’t seen the interior of the Museum in awhile and needed a reminder of what the carpets look like.
