What an eventful few weeks it has been for us! First up, we had a very heavy, very big, old safe removed from the basement as we prepare to start Phase 2 of the Access for All & More renovation. Have you ever had an 8,000-pound safe removed from your basement before? It was quite the ordeal! But, with lots of help and heavy machinery we were finally able to liberate it so that we can move forward with renovations. Why did we do this? This safe has lived in the basement until the dawn of time and wasn’t currently in working order, so we haven’t actively been using it for storage, it was too heavy to move around and taking up valuable space. It was removed by Boston Safe and will hopefully find another home soon. Enjoy these short videos and pics from the ‘event.’

In other (long-awaited) news we’re finally replacing the flooring in the gallery spaces. The time has come! After many years of researching materials and fundraising, we’ve finally had the old carpeting removed and we’re currently having it replaced with engineered hardwood with a cork underlayment. We’ve chosen a vertical orientation when you walk into the Pisa Gallery to create and lengthen the site line through the space. This work is ongoing but enjoy these timelapse videos and images as the space comes together.

We’re excited for this space to be ready to use for the opening of our next exhibition, Sanctuary City, which opens to the public on Friday, September 16th.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, we’ve begun a few social media campaigns to promote the upcoming exhibition with #artistspotlight, #merchandisemondays, and #flashbackfridays that highlight past exhibitions. We’re also gearing up for a fall full of programming, outdoor events, and exhibition openings. If you don’t already follow us on Facebook and Instagram, be sure to do so now so you don’t miss a thing!
