This week our construction team was focused on the placement and installation of the bond beam in the renovated space. “A bond beam is a horizontal structural element usually found as an embedded part of a masonry wall assembly. The bond beam serves to impart horizontal strength to a wall where it may not otherwise be braced by floor or roof structure.” (Wikipedia) This attention to all details and necessary structures will ensure that the elevator addition will serve the Museum (and the public) for decades to come.

Jim Piquette - thank you!

Jim Piquette - thank you!

In other news, thank you to everyone who came out to the ‘My neighbor is a museum’ Block Party event this past Saturday – and especially to those who purchased raffle tickets and made donations to the Access for All & More Campaign! The funds raised will help support this project and other smaller upgrades to the building making us ADA compliant. If you missed the event, you can still easily donate, by going to this link. Every penny counts!
