A lot of moving parts this week! Our Superintendent, Jim Piquette, is the master of coordination! This week he had to work around a wet Monday and waterproofing, making sure the entry canopy is correct and that the details of the new roof match the existing just right. All in the searing heat! But, he also helps out on other small things when we need him. For example, helping us hang the large interior banner for the Penny Chronicles exhibition and figuring out how to snake out electricity from the basement for our upcoming Block Party. He’s a rockstar and we couldn’t do this project with him or the Stack + Co. team.
In other news, our ‘My neighbor is a museum’ Block Party is happening this SATURDAY, 9/18 from 3–7 p.m.! You don’t want to miss this event! This event serves two purposes: a fundraiser for the Access for All & More campaign to help us finish this renovation project, AND it also serves as a reception for the exhibition, Penny Chronicles and the Stories They Tell.
Live music bands include: Jan Marie and the Mean Reds, Raynel Shepard & the Joe Reid Trio, Rook Murao and local DJs, Honk! with Ghost Town
Food from Winter Hill Brewing, Machu Picchu, and Christine's Cotton Candy will be available for purchase.
We have some great raffle prizes including gift cards to Spindler Confectioners, Bow Market fire pit reservations, signed Red Sox memorabilia, fun gift baskets, annual memberships to LegoLand, and much more! We're also organizing an art sale by local artists. So, there will be plenty of opportunities to support your neighborhood museum, local businesses, and artists.
Admission to the Block Party is free and open to all! There is a $5 admission to the view the Penny Chronicles and the Stories They Tell exhibition inside the Museum; members free.
In an effort to keep our staff, volunteers, and visitors safe we will be requiring everyone to wear a mask while indoors. We will be closely following updates on local and state regulations.
Pray for good weather, but if there isn’t the rain date is Sunday, 9/19.
