This was an exciting week! On site we finalized paint colors for the basement. All design decisions have been made by a group comprised of Museum staff and designers from Peter Quinn Architects. The Museum staff includes Evelyn Battinelli, Executive Director, Barbara Mangum, President and Alison Drasner, Asst. Director. Oftentimes, Laidy Saenz, Art + Culture Asst, will attend design meetings to help us make selection decisions. Many of you might not know this but Alison, the Asst. Director, is also an Interior Designer by trade. She’s worked as a designer for large and small construction firms and boutique interior design firms. On this project, she works closely with the designers from Peter Quinn Architects - Clelia Solis, Senior Interior Architect and Cassie Vanderzee. We’re all excited to see this project come to life!

In other news, the Penny Chronicles exhibition opens next week on Thursday, September 9th. While you wait, you can view a selection of vintage postcards related to this exhibition on our new outdoor virtual A/R frames. These frames are part of the Somernova Art Project and a collaboration with local cultural organizations. We also started promoting our ‘Your neighbor is a museum’ Block Party scheduled for Saturday, September 18 from 3-7pm. This event is a fundraiser for the Access for All & More Campaign as well as a reception for the Penny Chronicles exhibition. Everyone is invited!
