Somerville and Medford are covered in historic Revolutionary history. Discover it all through the map, annotations, images, and stories of life before there was an “America”. Scattered across the region are the sites of forts, Native American camps, prisoners of war, homes of Generals, Black petitioners for freedom, and cannons. Lots of cannons. Although much of these fascinating places are gone, we can visit the locations and learn about what life was like in pre-colonial times and leading up to, through, and after the Revolution through 1800.

Each point on the map has a description, image, and (digital version only) audio recording. A print versions will be available through the Museum.
