Welcome Nicole Beede

Nicole Monique Beede joins the Somerville Museum's team as their Community Relationship Manager. Her journey has been anchored in creating connections within diverse communities. Nicole has served as DEI Committee Chair and Facilitator at the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, Partnership Manager of Tech Goes Home, and Development & Fundraising Associate of the Disability Policy Consortium among others. Along with her memberships in Boston While Black, a Black Women Book club and Women in Development, Nicole brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit and community organizations from the individual to the organizational level, and is dedicated to advocating for unique voices, ensuring their stories are heard and their experiences valued. Nicole is excited to bring unique Somerville stories to the forefront while increasing the Somerville Museum's community exposure.

Nicole was a proud resident of Somerville in 2020, and was Boston born. While growing up in Newport, Rhode Island, Nicole's love of history was inspired by the mansions, ports, and sailing in her hometown. During the summers, Nicole was a tour guide for Fort Adams, a large military fort used during the revolution. Through learning more specific history about New England citizens, Nicole's love for local history grew. 

In In this position, Nicole hopes to soak in Somerville culture while learning about the vibrant, diverse and community-centered atmosphere, while increasing membership engagement, encouraging relevant events, and creating more collaborations in the Somerville area. Somerville's diverse mix of young professionals, college students, immigrants, and blue-collared workers excites Nicole with possibilities of sharing different facets of the city and bringing diverse communities together.
